13-year-old boy among three people arrested on weapons charges

PEORIA (25News Now) – Peoria police said they arrested three people on gun charges Wednesday, including a 13-year-old boy who was allegedly carrying a loaded handgun near Manual High School.

The boy was arrested after police said they saw a juvenile reportedly armed with a handgun in the 3000 block of West Lincoln Avenue, near Martin Luther King Drive, around 12:45 p.m

The boy was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, no FOID card and unlawful possession of a firearm by a person under 21 years of age.

During a separate investigation Wednesday around 7:35 p.m., police said they saw a man they were looking for sitting in the back seat of a vehicle in the 2000 block of West Marquette Street. Officers said they stopped the car in the 1200 block of NE Madison and found three loaded handguns inside.

Two men from Peoria were arrested: Christopher L. Brown, 32, and Jacoby J. Erving, 23.

Brown faces two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and armed violence, in addition to two active warrants.

Police said Erving was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm without a valid VOID card.

The boy and two men were arrested by officers from the Peoria Police Department's Special Investigations Division.
