Former Waco educator arrested for alleged inappropriate relationship with student

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A former high school teacher in Waco who was arrested earlier this month on allegations of child sexual abuse was arrested again Wednesday on allegations that he behaved inappropriately toward a student behave.

Octavio Sanchez, 53, remained in the McLennan County Jail on Thursday under bonds totaling $30,000 after being charged with a second-degree felony, improper teacher-student relationship and a Class A misdemeanor for violating the conditions of his bond had been arrested.

At the time of his arrest, Sanchez was out on bond after being arrested Sept. 3 on a first-degree felony charge of continuous sexual assault of a child.

After his arrest on that charge, Waco police received complaints from at least one student at Premiere High School, 4220 N. 19th St. in Waco, where Sanchez worked, according to an affidavit.

The student reported that from fall 2023 to fall 2024, Sanchez hugged her “several times,” wrapping his arm around her and touching the side of her breast.

“The victim said the defendant would apologize and act like it was an accident,” the affidavit states. “The victim described other staff not accidentally touching her breast when hugging her.”

Sanchez also commented on her body, telling her she was beautiful, the affidavit states.

“The victim described that the defendant 'would screw himself' by grabbing his own penis over his clothing,” the complaint states. “The victim described seeing this about three times. The victim described the defendant sometimes going to the bathroom afterwards. Similar things were said to Affiant about the defendant in the previous case, that the defendant frequently “conformed” in public.”

The girl said Sanchez also touched her thigh in class. Waco police reported that Sanchez “has a documented history of such behavior at another school.”

“The defendant in these cases engaged in numerous inappropriate and sexually predatory behaviors that were described by multiple individuals,” the lawsuit states.

Police reported that two days after his arrest on persistent sexual assault of a child charges, Sanchez violated the terms of his bond by returning to Premiere High School, where he had been fired, and attempting to go to his former classroom. He was stopped by a staff member, but video footage showed him trying to walk around the staff member before leaving the school.

The school was placed in a “restricted zone” that prohibited Sanchez from entering as a condition of his bond.

In the ongoing sexual assault of a child case, Waco police filed charges against him after a woman alleged Sanchez sexually abused her multiple times as a child, starting when she was 6 or 7 years old.
