Triple murder suspect Pawlet waives extradition when he appears in court in New York

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (WCAX) – A triple murder suspect will return to Vermont to face charges.

Brian Crossman Jr. waived extradition Thursday afternoon in a New York courtroom. He was arrested last week in New York for the shooting death of his father, Brian Crossman, 46. his stepmother Erica Crossman, 41; and his stepbrother, old Colin Taft, 13.

Crossman Jr. told Vermont police that he went for a walk on Sept. 15 and returned to his family's home in Pawlet to find that they had all been shot. Investigators say the house was full of blood, guns and bullet casings and that Crossman Jr.'s story is contradictory.

Warren County officials have set a so-called inspection date of Oct. 23, meaning it must be picked up by Vermont authorities by that date. His prosecution in Vermont is not scheduled.

The aggravated murder charge is punishable by life in prison without the possibility of parole.
