Vacaville man, 21, arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run – The Vacaville Reporter

Vacaville police officers arrested a 21-year-old Vacaville man Tuesday evening on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

At approximately 10:43 p.m., Vacaville officers and firefighters/paramedics were dispatched to the intersection area of Vaca Valley Parkway and Interstate 505 after receiving a report of a person lying on the side of the road.

Upon arrival, firefighters found an injured, unconscious person “with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle,” according to a department social media post.

The victim, a 25-year-old Vacaville resident, was taken to an area hospital and was reportedly in critical condition at the time.

About 10 minutes after dispatch, officers spotted a Honda sedan and the suspected driver about two miles west of the crime scene on the cul-de-sac of Rice Lane. The vehicle had “visible damage indicating that it had been involved in a collision,” the post’s author wrote.

The Vacaville Police Department Traffic Unit responded to investigate the collision.

As a result, 21-year-old Nathaniel James of Vacaville was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

A check of Solano County Jail records Thursday showed James was no longer in custody.

The alleged crimes remain under investigation and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Officer Delos Santos at (707) 449-5232.
