The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. when SPD officers attempted to stop a driver on Broadway Avenue at Hollywood Avenue. The driver was stopped at Hollywood Avenue and McAlpine Street.

During the arrest, “a physical altercation occurred,” Thomas said, which resulted in the man being taken to the hospital.
