Five people died in a multi-vehicle crash near Price

PRICE, Utah – A crash on US-6 near Price killed five people Thursday afternoon, the Utah Department of Public Safety reported.

According to officials, a silver SUV was stopped on Spring Glen Road heading east on Highway 6. The driver accelerated too much and entered another lane that was occupied by a semi-trailer with a double load.

The tractor-trailer attempted to avoid the impending collision, lost control, crossed into westbound traffic, struck a Nissan SUV, sending it off the roadway and into a rocky embankment.

During the accident, another person was driving an ATV on the westbound shoulder and was struck during the accident.

The accident killed four occupants of the Nissan and the ATV driver. The driver of the silver SUV was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The agency said the accident occurred near milepost 235 and there were significant delays with only one lane open in both directions.
