Cowboys-Giants bad shot: Brandon Aubrey rarely misses in the final seconds, the swings spread against Dallas bettors

Brandon Aubrey was perfect. Until he wasn't anymore. The Dallas Cowboys kicker, praised for his automatic play from distance, missed a rare miss in the final seconds of his club's “Thursday Night Football” match against the New York Giants. That 51-yard attempt missed the right edge, but proved meaningless for Dallas, which already had a 20-15 lead with less than 30 seconds to play to move the win to 2-2 on the season to advance.

For those who have bet on the game, it is a completely different story.

The line for this game started at Cowboys -4 but ended at Cowboys -5.5. Depending on when people placed this bet, this miss proved costly as it would have put Dallas ahead by eight points, which would have been a win for everyone involved. For those who bet the 5.5 points, their bet was useless next to Aubrey's kick.

How rare was this failure? Well, that was Aubrey's first career miss on a shot from 50 or more yards. Previously, the 29-year-old hit 16 of 16 shots from 50 yards or more in his career, marking the most consecutive 50-yard field goals in NFL history to start a career. And it's coming to an end, much to the chagrin of Dallas 5.5 bettors.
