Chloe Fineman says new 'SNL' cast members are being 'thrown into the fire.'

New actors from Saturday Night Live should be able to handle the heat — at least according to veteran ensemble member Chloe Fineman.

The comedian, who is currently gearing up to kick off her sixth season on the sketch comedy show, was recently asked by PEOPLE to offer some words of wisdom to the show's newest pranksters, and her message was pretty simple.

“Have fun,” Fineman said, adding, “You get thrown into the fire, so to speak.”

Fineman learned this lesson the hard way when she joined the show in 2019. She told Variety about a particularly challenging evening during her first season, where she didn't know anything was wrong for up to a year SNL The legend gave some advice.

“My first year, Will Ferrell hosted,” Fineman recalls. “I thought I did well. Turns out I did the hardest bombing runs I've ever had. In the end he said, 'Hold on.' It gets better.'”

As SNL As the fall premiere of the historic 50th season approaches, a new group of comedians will rise to the challenges of their own debut season. The newcomers in question are former Groundlings member Ashley Padilla, stand-up alum Emil Wakim and TikToker Jane Wickline.

SNL There was more upheaval in his cast earlier this month when Molly Kearney and Punkie Johnson departed after two and four seasons, respectively. Player Chloe Troast is also leaving the team after just one season.

“Unfortunately I wasn’t asked back SNL “This season,” Troast wrote in an Instagram post on September 9th. “I wish I went back to be with all the amazing friends I made there.” It really felt like home. But that wasn't planned.

While Troast has left the show, her Season 49 newcomers Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker are all promoted to the main cast. The remaining Season 49 players will also return, including Fineman, Michael Che, Mikey Day, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, James Austin Johnson, Andrew Dismukes, Heidi Gardner, Colin Jost and Sarah Sherman. Maya Rudolph is expected to return to her Emmy-winning Kamala Harris impersonation during election season.
