Sonic the Hedgehog joins the DC Justice League for the 2025 comic series

Sega and Sonic Team hosted their annual Sonic Central broadcast on Tuesday, revealing the latest updates on Sonic the Hedgehog video games, merchandise, and the live-action films and animated projects. There have also been many collaborations and crossovers, including tie-ins with Lego; visual artist Louis De Guzman; and video games Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, RobloxAnd Two Point Museum.

But the most intriguing project shown was an upcoming crossover event with DC Comics, which will see Sonic the Hedgehog and friends appear as classic Justice League heroes in a comic series launching in 2025. Details have been sparse, but Sega's Ivo Gerscovich revealed that in addition to Shadow the Hedgehog taking on the role of Batman in the comic series, we get the following mashups of DC superheroes and furry cartoon animals:

Writer Ian Flynn, known for his work on Archie Comics and IDW Publishing's Sonic the Hedgehog comics, is leading the project. Flynn is working with an unannounced artist on the project, which was announced on Batman Day last week.

DC Comics' Sonic crossover will span five issues, releasing in March 2025, as well as a collected edition of that series, Gerscovich said. He also announced that there will be more in the form of clothing, accessories and toys and that the partnership between DC and Sega will last until 2026.
