AFR responds to west side crash and rescue in Sandias

Albuquerque –

At approximately 8:15 p.m., Albuquerque Fire Rescue and the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle at Coors Blvd NW and Fortuna Rd NW. AFRs Engine 7 and Rescue 14 were dispatched to the scene.

According to witnesses and photos available to us, there were at least three vehicles and a motorcycle. A vehicle appeared to have collided with the black and red motorcycle and then run over it.

The driver was reportedly taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. At the time of this publication, the condition of the occupants in the other vehicles is unknown.

The Albuquerque Police Department is currently investigating the cause of this crash.

Sandia Mountain Rescue

At 8:15 p.m., Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to the Embudito/Foothills Trailhead at 5000 Cumbre Del Sur Ct NE. Engine 16 was the first to arrive on the scene of a long-distance rescue operation. Battalion commander 3, locomotive 8 and rescue unit 16 also arrived at this location.

As we learn more about this rescue we will keep you updated.
