'Magic mushroom' drug deal causes two Colorado teens to overdose: police

A suspected drug dealer in Colorado was arrested for allegedly giving psilocybin mushrooms, also known as “magic mushrooms,” to a group of teenagers and preteens, causing two of them to overdose, police said.

Damien Solano, 21, is currently in custody at the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJC) in El Paso County, Colorado, where he has been charged with drug distribution and manufacturing, Caitlin Ford, a Colorado Springs police spokeswoman, told USA TODAY in a statement Email Wednesday.

Ford said police became aware of Solano's alleged crimes when they received a call Tuesday morning about two teenagers overdosing on psilocybin mushrooms at Fox Meadow Middle School. As both teens were taken to a local hospital, police learned that two other teens were victims of a possible drug deal gone bad, the spokesman said.
