Celebration of life planned for Morgan Bauer, murdered in 2016

A celebration of life is being planned for an Aberdeen woman who moved to Georgia in 2016 and disappeared shortly afterwards.

Morgan A. Bauer was 19 when she left Aberdeen for Atlanta.Although law enforcement investigated her disappearance for several years, her remains were not found until October 2023. Ultimately, two people were arrested and charged in connection with her death.

Bauer's celebration of life will be held at St. Mary's Fellowship Hall in Aberdeen on Friday, October 11, at 5 p.m. The viewing appointment is one hour in advance, followed by private insurance.

An accused person has pleaded guilty and is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Jonathan A. Warren, 34, who was arrested in California, pleaded guilty Wednesday, Jan. 10, in a courtroom in Newton County, Georgia, to first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, concealing the death of another and necrophilia, sources said in a statement from the Newton County District Attorney.

Charges are still pending against 28-year-old Katelyn Goble premeditated murder, aggravated murder, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and concealing the death of another. She was living in Illinois at the time of the indictment.

A court hearing was once scheduled for this week, but it is unclear whether that took place or was postponed, according to Georgia legal documents.
