Woman accused of stealing $1,300 worth of Walmart merchandise

Amanda Taylor, 37, of Vass, is accused of stealing more than $1,300 worth of merchandise from Walmart in Aberdeen.

On July 7, Aberdeen Police received a report of the suspected theft.

“Aberdeen detectives had the incident monitored via video and began disseminating the suspect’s images to local law enforcement and the public,” Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis said in a news release Thursday. “Investigators received several tips and after following up on each one, they were able to identify Taylor as a suspect.”

Chavis said warrants for theft and possession of stolen goods were issued for Taylor on Aug. 15 and Aberdeen detectives were trying to locate her.

She was arrested in Moore County on September 25 and lodged in the Moore County Detention Center without immediate bail pending bond determination by a judge at a later date.

Defendants charged with criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
