Man arrested after police standoff in connection with Moberly's kidnapping and assault

A man was arrested after he was involved in an altercation with police on September 26th.

The arrest was made in connection with a kidnapping and assault Friday on Rollins Street in Moberly.

According to a news release, the Moberly Police Department (MPD) SWAT team and the North Missouri Drug Task Force worked together to rescue the victim who was being held hostage.

Following the incident, MPD began an investigation into the matter and issued an arrest warrant for Vaughn Woods, 38, of Moberly.

Police reported finding Woods at a residence in the 800 block of Union Avenue, where an hour-long standoff ensued after he refused to leave the home.

He was eventually taken into custody without further incident and charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault and felon in possession of a firearm.

Woods was booked into the Randolph County Jail on $100,000 bail.
