Eastpointe police arrest a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run accident

EASTPOINTE, Mich – Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Eastpointe.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in the area of ​​northbound Gratiot Avenue near Chestnut Avenue in Eastpointe. Witnesses reported seeing a man lying on the ground in the middle of Gratiot Avenue.

When police arrived, they said they found a 30-year-old Roseville man dead on the sidewalk between the center and right lanes. The investigation revealed that he was crossing Gratiot Avenue on foot when a silver four-door sedan struck him. The vehicle only stopped briefly before the driver left the scene of the accident heading north.

Police believe the four-door sedan involved in this fatal hit-and-run crash may have been a 2010-2015 Honda Accord. The vehicle had damage to the front and top of the hood where it struck the victim.

On Friday, September 27, 2024, police announced that they had arrested a Warren man and that he is expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
