Woman charged with attempted murder after stabbing in Norwich

NORWICH, CT (WFSB) – A woman in Norwich has been charged with attempted murder and other charges stemming from the stabbing.

According to Norwich Police, Mary Beth Kostek was arrested Thursday.

They said they responded to a 911 call about an assault on Briar Lane around 11:25 a.m

They reported finding a woman with significant stab wounds to her upper body.

Both the victim and suspect were taken to William W. Backus Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, investigators said they interviewed people and obtained a search and seizure warrant for the address. Evidence was seized which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Kostek was charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and cruelty to persons.

She was held on a court-set bond of $1.5 million and was given a date for her arraignment on Friday.

The victim remained in hospital in stable condition.
