HCSO and Greenville PD make drug arrests | Local News

This hasn't been a good week to be a suspected drug dealer in Greenville after efforts by the Greenville Police Department and the Hunt County Sheriff's Office resulted in the arrest of four people.

Early Wednesday, HCSO executed a narcotics-related search warrant in the 2400 block of Hillcrest Avenue in Greenville. According to investigators, the house was used for the sale and distribution of narcotics, suspected to be cocaine and fentanyl.

After a search of the apartment, investigators found what is believed to be 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, 750 fentanyl pills, hydrocodone pills, Xanax pills, marijuana, six firearms (one stolen), U.S. currency and drug paraphernalia used in the packaging and the Sales were used of narcotics.

HCSO officials say two adults at the apartment – Charles William Bryant and Jaida Kaye Bridgewater – were taken into custody and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance greater than 400 grams (cocaine) or manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance greater than 400 grams charged with more than four grams but less than 400 (fentanyl) and two counts of endangering a child. Both individuals remain in the Hunt County Detention Center with bonds totaling $825,000 each.

Bryant, 34, has a long list of interactions with Hunt County law enforcement over the past half-dozen years, ranging from multiple charges of driving with an invalid license, assault, marijuana possession and unlicensed carrying of a weapon. He was most recently arrested for weapons possession in June last year. Bridgewater, 25, was arrested for drunken driving earlier this month.

Child Protective Services and the SPCA of Texas were contacted for assistance in obtaining custody of two children through CPS, and the SPCA of Texas determined that Bryant and Bridgewater were operating an unlicensed breeding operation. They took 14 dogs out of the apartment.

Greenville police initiated a narcotics investigation at the Knights Inn at 5000 Interstate 30 in Greenville and executed a search warrant Thursday morning that led to the arrest of two people.

Sheldric Burnett, 43, and Brooke Lanee McSparrin, 37, were charged with manufacture or delivery of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance greater than four grams but less than 400 grams (methamphetamine). Both were also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. The Hunt County Jail website does not list the bond amount for either Burnett or McSparrin.

There have been several arrests against Burnett in Hunt County since 2000. Previous charges included burglary of a vehicle, evading arrest, theft, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, assault, trespassing, forgery, public intoxication, failure to identify, aggravated assault on an officer, aggravated kidnapping, failure to identify as Fugitive, DWI, possession of a controlled substance and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

McSparrin was previously arrested in Hunt County for check theft; Theft; injury to a child, elderly or disabled person; and possession of a controlled substance.
