ANNSVILLE, NY – An incident that required crisis negotiators on September 19th led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man today.

On September 27, Taberg resident Brian K. Platt was taken into custody on charges of an alleged assault on Taberg Florence Road in the town of Annsville.

Hostage negotiations sought at Annsville Residence after report of attack

Hostage takers were called to a home in Annsville after a reported attack on Taberg Florence Road.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, charges were filed after Platt had a confrontation with neighbors on September 19th.

“On that day, Platt returned to his residence following the altercation and subsequently refused to come out when officers arrived,” the sheriff’s office said.

Officers ensured the three other residents exited the home safely while Platt remained inside.

“Officers secured a perimeter with assistance from New York State Police and crisis negotiators were called to the scene,” the sheriff’s office said.

Negotiators managed to convince Platt to leave the residence without further incident.

“After taking Platt into custody, officers located seven long guns laid out on a bed at the residence and confiscated them at that time,” a sheriff’s office statement said.

An Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) was also obtained.

During a follow-up search ordered by the ERPO, no further weapons were found in the house.

Charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal misdemeanor, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and criminal mischief were filed and warrants were issued in Annsville City Court.

Today, members of the sheriff's office, with the assistance of the New York State Forest Rangers, arrested Platt on these charges.

He was taken to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building, processed on the warrants and then transported to the Oneida County Jail to await arraignment in court.
