A tractor-trailer driver from Columbia Heights, Minnesota, was arrested Monday evening on charges of driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

At about 7:25 p.m., troopers were called to I-295 in Lower Bucks County after receiving reports of a possible drunken driver, state police said.

The vehicle was later found parked on the curb of the I-295 rest area in Lower Makefield Township, state police said.

The driver reportedly had an altercation with another motorist whose vehicle mirror was hit by the truck. The witness reported a strong smell of alcohol at the scene, state police said.

Police arrived around 7:50 p.m. and found the 33-year-old Minnesota man in the driver's seat, state police said.

The man allegedly refused to exit the vehicle while he was on the phone.

Despite repeated orders to exit the truck, the driver reportedly responded, “For what? I'm not doing anything. I’m not driving.”

The driver began reaching into the vehicle, which resulted in a trooper physically removing him with the help of two troopers, state police said.

The man fought back, causing a soldier to nearly fall to the ground after he lost his footing on a broken truck step, troopers said.

The driver was arrested and showed signs of intoxication as police noticed an overwhelming odor of alcohol and urine coming from both the man and the vehicle, state police said.

Law enforcement added that the man also swayed and appeared unsteady during the arrest.

The man is accused of driving under the influence, providing false identification to law enforcement, resisting arrest, filing false reports, disorderly conduct and similar offenses. He was held on 10 percent bail of $250,000.
