Unicoi Co. Hospital was closed due to flooding in the area

UNICOI COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Unicoi County Hospital suspended operations Friday due to severe weather in the area.

Ballad Health announced at 10:45 a.m. that Unicoi County Hospital was closed due to impacts from Hurricane Helene.

Roan Mountain was evacuated due to flooding

Ballad said the hospital's 11 patients will be transferred to other area hospitals. Anyone in the area who needs care is asked to go to the nearest hospital or call 911.

Ballad said in a news release that due to the severity of the flooding, high winds and power outages, the company activated its Corporate Emergency Operations Center.

Elective surgeries at Ballad facilities have been postponed and several of the hospital system's clinics and emergency rooms have been closed.
