Cedar Rapids man charged with attempted murder in July shooting

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested for a July shooting that sent someone to the hospital.

Cedar Rapids police said they arrested 60-year-old Brian Allen Keys on Friday on two counts of attempted murder for the shooting.

It happened on July 8 around 10:14 p.m. in the 3100 block of O Avenue NW.

Officials said they found several people there, including a person who reportedly fired a weapon and a person who was injured by the gunfire. The injured person was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Keys and the victim knew each other.

The following is charged for the keys:

  • Attempted Murder (two counts)
  • Intentional violation resulting in serious injury
  • Reckless use of firearms results in serious injuries
  • Assault while displaying a dangerous weapon (three counts)
  • Assault causing bodily harm

He is being held in the Linn County Jail on a $1 million bond.
