Man accused of stealing $2.7 million from child support to buy timeshares in Florida

COLUMBIA, S.C. (TMX/Gray News) – A South Carolina man accused of stealing more than $2.7 million from Delaware's child support distribution system and using it to buy timeshare interests in Florida is facing charges filed a federal lawsuit.

Brandon Lamont Swain, 53, has been indicted on eight counts of bank fraud, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida said Wednesday.

According to the indictment, Swain is accused of fraudulently obtaining more than $2.7 million from the State of Delaware, Division of Child Support Services, Positive Pay bank account.

The funds were allegedly transferred to companies and financial institutions for personal benefit.

In the transactions, Swain allegedly used the account to purchase timeshare interests in resort properties in Orlando and elsewhere valued at more than $2 million.

The case was investigated by the US Secret Service.
