Two couples in car, ATV driver killed in crash on Highway 6, identified

PRICE – The five people killed in a crash on Highway 6 Thursday have now been identified as two couples from Minnesota and a man from Helper who was driving an ATV.

According to authorities, the accident occurred after an SUV drove beyond the acceleration lane and a tractor-trailer struck a Nissan Rogue, killing four people in the vehicle. The large rig and the SUV also benefit the ATV driver.

The Utah Highway Patrol confirmed that the four people killed in the Nissan Rogue were Sang Her, 56, Lee Thao, 38, Bee Moua, 26, and Mai Lor, 25 – all from Minnesota. Gustavo Mendoza, who was riding the ATV, was from Helper, Utah.

The relationships between the four people in Rogue are currently unconfirmed.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on US 6 at milepost 235 and left one lane open to both directions for several hours.

UHP said the silver SUV was traveling on Spring Glen Road. and attempted to drive eastbound on US 6 and entered the speeding lane. The driver of the tractor-trailer attempted to avoid the SUV but lost control and entered westbound traffic. The tractor-trailer struck the westbound Nissan SUV, sending it off the road and into a rocky embankment, where it also struck Mendoza, who was riding an ATV on the westbound route.

The driver of the SUV is said to have only suffered minor injuries.
