Curtis Robinson tore his ACL in 49ers practice; Linebacker's season is over – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

SANTA CLARA – Linebacker Curtis Robinson's season is over after he suffered a non-contact injury early in practice Thursday.

Robinson suffered a season-ending ACL tear, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Friday.

The 26-year-old Robinson was one of the 49ers' core special teams players and might have carved out a more prominent role given the team's struggles on defense.

In the first three games, he was on the field 59 times on special teams – that's 78 percent of the 49ers' kicking games.

Robinson originally joined the 49ers' practice squad in December 2021. Over the next two seasons, he rotated between San Francisco's practice squad and active roster, appearing in six regular-season games.

With an impressive training camp, he secured a spot on the 49ers' 53-man roster this summer.

Robinson entered the NFL in 2021 as an undrafted rookie out of Stanford, where he was a two-time All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention selection.
