Man from Holland seriously injured in collision between car and motorcycle

Officials said a motorcycle and a vehicle collided and the motorcycle slid into a nearby ditch.

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. – A man was seriously injured in a collision between a car and his motorcycle Friday night, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

Officers said they were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of 144th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 4 p.m.

OCSO said the preliminary investigation revealed a 23-year-old Dutch man was riding a motorcycle northbound on 144th Avenue. A 36-year-old Dutch woman then entered the intersection on Van Buren Street in her vehicle.

Officers said the motorcycle and vehicle collided and the motorcycle slid into a nearby ditch.

The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, OCSO said.

According to officials, it is not known whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. However, they said a helmet was found away from the motorcycle at the scene of the accident.

The crash is currently under investigation by OCSO.
