NATCHEZ – On Friday, March 2, 2018, dozens of law enforcement officers from various agencies, including the Adams County Sheriff's Office, conducted a large-scale raid on several residences and businesses in Adams County.

When the dust cleared, law enforcement had seized $1,143,413 in cash, five ounces of Ecstacy, 27 kilos of cocaine, 29 pounds of methamphetamine, eight guns, nine vehicles and 6.9 pounds of heroin.

Seven arrests were made, including Kevin Singleton, whose home cash and drugs were seized. Singleton is serving a 10-year life sentence in federal prison for four drug trafficking convictions.

Fast forward to September 2024 and proceeds from the seizure will now be distributed to the agencies involved, said Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten.

“All defendants in the case have been convicted and are in prison. “We are currently working with the U.S. Attorney and Attorney General to obtain the release of these funds to the Adams County Sheriff's Office and other agencies involved in Operation Get Right,” Patten said. “We’re in the final stages of this.”

Adams County's share of the funds is expected to be $274,000.

The money should only be used for investments related to combating the drug epidemic, he said.

“It can’t go into the county’s general fund or anything like that,” Patten said. “We plan to use the money to upgrade our computer servers before the end of the year.”
