A look at how Miami's futures betting has changed after a strong start to the season

The Miami Hurricanes football program is off to a fast start through the first four weeks of the 2024 season.

No. 7 Miami (4-0) dominated all opponents on the schedule and moved up in the polls from No. 19 in the preseason rankings.

UM started the season with a 41-17 win at Florida. The Hurricanes then took care of business at home with a 56-9 victory over FAMU and a 62-0 victory over Ball State. In week four, Miami went on the road again to play an all-state program and beat South Florida 50-15.

Miami is averaging 52.3 points per game on offense, ranking fourth nationally, while its defense is allowing 10.3 points per game, which ranks 11th nationally.

The Hurricanes passed the eye test in each of the first four games of the 2024 season. What does Las Vegas think? This article is intended to highlight the changing odds that have taken place regarding UM since preseason.

National Championship Odds

– Preseason: +5500

– At the moment: +1800

Overview: If you made this bet in the preseason, you will be pretty happy with the value of your bet.

After the first four games of the season, the Hurricanes have held their own on this list.

A bet of +5500 was placed on Miami in the preseason, which was the 16th best odds at the time.

UM now has the eighth-best odds to win the National Championship this year, behind Ohio State (+340), Georgia (+360), Texas (+500), Alabama (+800), Oregon +1000 and Tennessee (+1100) . ) and Ole Miss (+1300).

Frankly, Miami still represents strong value here as they play in a weak ACC and if the Hurricanes win the conference they will receive a crucial bye to the second quarterfinal round of the new 12-team playoffs.

MAKING COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF CHANCES

– Preseason: +220

– At the moment: -200

Overview: These odds have reversed since the previous season. If you placed this bet in the preseason, you will receive plus odds.

Miami is the final team with negative odds to enter the College Football Playoff as they have the ninth-best odds to make the inaugural 12-team playoffs.

Again, the Hurricanes appear to be the strongest ACC team at this point in the season, and winning one of the four power conferences will automatically give the team a spot in the playoffs.

Among other ACC schools, Clemson has the second-best odds of making the CFP at +200 odds.

ACC CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS

– Preseason: +400

– At the moment: +125

Overview: Miami is now the favorite to win the ACC and the numbers have shifted significantly after just four games.

In the preseason, Florida State, which now has a 1-3 record entering this season, was the betting favorite to win the ACC at +290 odds. The Seminoles now have a +10,000 chance of winning the conference. Clemson had the second-best preseason odds at +350. The Tigers currently have a +240 chance of winning the ACC.

Miami entered the 2024 season as the most talented team in the ACC on paper. That's how it was on the field in the first four games.

CAM WARD HEISMAN TROPHY ODDS

– Preseason: +2200

– At the moment: +450

Overview: Ward is the betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy after the first four weeks of the season.

This is a significant jump from last season, when Ward had the ninth-best odds of winning the prestigious award.

Ward's top five Heisman odds include Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart (+500), Alabama QB Jalen Milroe (+700), Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava (+950) and Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel (+1000).

Ward is off to a hot start to the 2024 season, leading the country with 1,439 yards and 14 touchdowns while completing 72.4 percent of his passes and rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Ward's arrival, a transfer from Washington State, changed the trajectory of the Miami Hurricanes football program under the leadership of Mario Cristobal. The quarterback is performing at a high level and UM is now considered the favorite to win the ACC and one of the non-SEC teams that can legitimately compete for a national championship.
