Drunk driver convicted in 2005 Meadowbrook Parkway crash that killed child, limo driver released from prison

A drunken driver convicted in a 2005 Long Island crash that killed a 7-year-old girl and a limousine driver has been released from prison, according to his attorney.

Martin Heidgen was released on parole this week. He was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison after driving nearly three miles the wrong way on Meadowbrook Parkway and then crashing head-on into a sedan.

Seven-year-old Katie Flynn and limousine driver Stanley Rabinowitz were killed.

Department of Corrections records show Heidgen was released Wednesday.

Heidgen's attorney, Stephen LaMagna, released a statement saying, “Both Marty and his family are grateful to the parole board for recognizing that it is appropriate to release Marty on parole and allow him to re-enter society and.” to become a productive and productive human being.” He remains a constructive member of our community and will forever repent for all the suffering he has caused to so many and continues to pray for them and their families.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly released a statement saying, “I have strongly opposed the release of Martin Heidgen after he served only the minimum sentence for his crime and am pleased with the decision of the Parole board disappointed. Heidgen's statements after his arrest and during his prosecution speak to me of a lack of sincerity and remorse for the devastation that followed his drunken and depraved head-on crash in 2005 that killed Stanley Rabinowitz and seven-year-old Katie Flynn.
