Preseason game preview: Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars meet again

With the preseason now officially underway, the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars face off again for the second time in less than a week. This will be the second of two matchups against Dallas, with the Stars winning the first game.

Colorado avalanche

Last time, Colorado lost to the Stars with a final score of 3-2 via buzzer beater. Other than that crazy ending, this game was probably about what you would expect from a preseason game. Many new players and players pushing to make the roster got appearances and ice time. Matthew Phillips and Jayson Megna ended up being the two scorers for Colorado in the game. Megna's goal also came from a phenomenal pass from Cal Ritchie.

Planned lineup

I won't pretend to know the cast like I did in the last preview we wrote about here. However, since this is still pre-season, it's probably not a big leap to say that we'll probably see a lot of younger players for both teams again. It's been rumored that it's probably Group 1 from yesterday's training, but we'll see.

Dallas Stars

Dallas sneaked away from Denver with a win on a last-second goal from Lian Bichsel. Their game looked pretty similar to Colorado's, with lots of younger players and players pushing to make the full-time NHL roster getting plenty of attention and ice time.

Wyatt Johnston continued his habit of scoring against the Avs as he was one of the scorers for Dallas on the night, along with Arttu Hyry who was the second scorer of the night. The Stars will enter Denver with a much stronger lineup than Monday night and look to once again defeat their division rival.

goalkeeper

For the Stars, Jake Oettinger and Ben Kraws will likely split on the goal line at some point, and the same goes for Alexandar Georgiev and Kevin Mandolese for the Avalanche.
