Osceola man found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison

OSCEOLA, Ark. (KAIT) – A judge sentenced an Osceola man to life in prison after a shooting a year ago.

According to a news release from District Attorney Sonia Hagood, the jury found 41-year-old Reggie Matthews guilty of capital murder following a jury trial Sept. 24-26.

Second Judicial District Judge Daniel Ritchey sentenced Matthews to life in prison without parole.

On Sept. 6, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Osceola police officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 100 block of West Broadway, Hagood's release states.

Upon arrival, officers found 36-year-old Tiana Robinson unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

After “extensive rescue efforts,” Robinson was pronounced dead shortly before 10 p.m

Hagood said Matthews was originally charged with first-degree murder, but in December 2023, Assistant District Attorney Dustin Jones filed an amended information that upgraded Matthews' charge to aggravated murder.

“The tireless work of the Osceola Police Department, along with our assistant district attorneys, was instrumental in ensuring justice for Tiana Robinson. “This conviction demonstrates our commitment to justice and ensuring that those who commit violent crimes face the full force of the law,” Hagood said in the news release.

“Our office and the Osceola Police Department have invested countless hours to secure this conviction. It underscores our determination to take every violent crime seriously and work tirelessly for justice,” Jones said. “Tiana Robinson was deeply loved and we hope this verdict brings some measure of peace to her family.”
