Man arrested in head-on crash on US 41A in Webster Co

WEBSTER CO., Ky. (WFIE) – Officials with the Webster County Sheriff's Office have made an arrest as part of the investigation into a head-on collision that occurred on US 41 North near Dixon in July.

Four victims were taken to the hospital in the crash, according to a news release.

Authorities filed a criminal complaint for the arrest of Craig A. Ayers after an investigation revealed he was driving on the wrong side of the road while under the influence.

While driving under the influence, Ayers caused an accident that seriously injured several victims, including himself.

On Tuesday, Ayers was served with an arrest warrant for criminal charges in Webster County.

He was arrested and booked into the Webster County Detention Center.

Ayers is accused of the following charges:

  • Assault 1st Degree (three counts)
  • Driving a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense (Aggravating Circumstances)
  • Failure to fasten the seat belt
