MPD's “Operation South Side Surge” yields drugs, guns and 26 arrests

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile Police Department arrested 26 people Wednesday and Thursday as it concluded a three-month investigation.

As part of “Operation South Side Surge,” MPD’s Narcotics and Vice Division targeted illegal drug sales with a focus on the city’s South Side, including the Baltimore Street and Down the Bay areas.

According to MPD, officers executed nine search warrants and seized “significant” amounts of drugs, including 580 grams of marijuana, 12 grams of cocaine, 12 grams of synthetic marijuana and 13 grams of methamphetamine. Seven guns and $32,366 in cash were also seized, authorities said.

Five people were taken into custody targeted arrests. Those arrested and their charges include:

Nicholas Tate, 35
