Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash near Deary

Deary, ID – Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle accident that occurred last night just before 7 p.m. on State Highway 8 near milepost 27, just outside of Deary.

In the preliminary investigation, troopers said a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 26-year-old man struck the rear of a Ford Bronco driven by a 33-year-old man. This caused the Ford to leave the road and crash onto an embankment before catching fire. The fire spread to trees in the area, but was quickly suppressed by responding firefighters.

The driver of the Ford was ejected in the impact and suffered serious injuries. ISP said evidence suggests the driver of the Ford was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver was flown to a local hospital in a rescue helicopter.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee suffered minor injuries; Family members took him to the hospital. This incident is still under investigation.
