APD investigates fatal motorcycle crash in East Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A motorcyclist died Friday after a collision with an SUV in East Anchorage, Anchorage police said.

APD wrote in a news release that officers responded to a report of an injury crash near Boniface Parkway and Caribou Avenue around 3:45 p.m. Friday.

The department said initial indications indicate a man on a Honda motorcycle was traveling south on Boniface Pkwy. when it hit a Subaru Crosstrek that was parked on Caribou Ave. was traveling in a westerly direction.

According to APD, a bystander attempted life-saving measures on the man who was driving the motorcycle until paramedics arrived. The man was taken to a local hospital but died from his injuries.

The southbound lanes of Boniface at the Glenn Highway overpass and the northbound lanes of Boniface Parkway at Caribou Avenue remain closed while the Major Collision Investigations Unit investigates the scene.

APD determined that the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The driver of the Subaru Crosstrek cooperated with police and no charges were filed.
