Sandy Ryan vs. Mikaela Mayer – full fight video highlights

Sandy Ryan and Mikaela Mayer competed in the main event on Friday, September 27, live on ESPN from The Theater at MSG in New York. The contest pitted the United Kingdom's reigning WBO welterweight champion against the former unified super featherweight champion from Woodland Hills, California.

The world championship fight, scheduled for 10 rounds, went the full distance and caused fireworks. In the end, judge Bob Williams scored the fight 95-95, while judges Waleska Roldan and Benoit Roussel scored 97-93 and 96-94, respectively, in favor of the host country's representative.

With the majority decision victory, Mikaela Mayer, who previously held a unified super featherweight title, became the new WBO welterweight champion. The 34-year-old from Woodland Hills, California improved to 20-2, 5 KOs and returned to winning ways after an unsuccessful fight for the IBF title against Natasha Jonas in January.

Sandy Ryan, who was hit with a can of paint hours before the fight, failed to defend her belt for the third time. The 31-year-old fell to 7-2-1, 3 KOs and lost her title.
