Angelina Jolie gives up two-year legal battle with FBI over investigation into ex-husband Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie dropped her federal lawsuit against the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation over records about her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, In contact can report exclusively.

According to court documents obtained by In contactJane Doe, believed to be 49-year-old Angelina, informed the court of her decision on Wednesday, September 25th.

The filing said: “The parties to this action hereby agree to dismiss this action without prejudice, with each party paying its own fees and costs.”

The case was filed in March 2022 under the pseudonym Jane Doe. The heavily redacted lawsuit revealed that Angelina filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the FBI in 2021.

She requested certain documents related to the FBI's investigation of 60-year-old Brad over the infamous incident aboard a private plane on September 14, 2016, which preceded the couple's divorce.

She said he grabbed her head and shook her. Angelina said Brad also choked one of the children and punched another in the face. Additionally, Angelina said he poured beer on her and wine on her children.

Brad has disputed Angelina's version of events for years. He denied the allegations.

His lawyer Anne Kiley previously said: “Brad owned everything he was responsible for from day one – unlike the other side – but he will own nothing he didn't do. He has been the victim of personal attacks of all kinds and misrepresentation.”

She added: “Fortunately, the various authorities that the other side has tried to use against him over the last six years have made their own independent decisions. “Brad will continue to respond in court, as he always has.”

The FBI and the LA County Department of Children and Family Services launched an investigation following the plane accident. In November 2016, an FBI spokesperson announced that no charges would be filed against Brad.

“The FBI has reviewed the circumstances and will not investigate further. No charges have been filed in this matter,” the representative said.

In her lawsuit, Angelina claimed the FBI never contacted her before the public announcement. “[Angelina] was not informed of the FBI's discontinuation of the investigation prior to the public statement, nor was it informed of the FBI's reasons for discontinuing the investigation or the unusual decision to publicly announce the discontinuation of the investigation, despite the legal obligation to do so “To inform victims at an early stage possible notification of the status of an investigation,” her statement of claim read.

Angelina said she filed her Freedom of Information Act with the FBI, requesting they provide investigative documents “in an attempt to better understand the FBI's investigation and obtain the information requested to ensure her children receive it.” [redacted].” She said it took the FBI six months to produce 91 heavily redacted pages.

Her suit said: “[Angelina] and their children still do not have a clear picture of how the FBI handled the matter or a better understanding of why the matter was abruptly closed without notice [redacted]who remain reeling from the FBI's unusual public statement closing the investigation and announcing that no charges will be filed against them [Brad].”

The lawsuit continues: “For example, the FBI’s public statement served as the basis for the widespread claim that the FBI exonerated and “acquitted” the case. [Brad]. The FBI actually didn't clear it up [Brad] of misconduct. The FBI's 2021 FOIA response shows, among other things, that the FBI special agent in charge of investigating whether Mr. DOE committed a federal crime prepared a probable cause statement (which was fully withheld by the FBI ) and submitted it to the Assistant United States Attorney and Chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles.”

Angelina claimed: “This misrepresentation has contributed to the ongoing harm [redacted] by delegitimizing her experience, making it difficult to prove in ongoing family law cases.” In the lawsuit, the actress claimed the FBI withheld 45 pages in its entirety.

The parties have been arguing over the exchange of further documents for two years. Now the fight is over.
