A car accident with a pole causes a power outage for thousands and affects traffic and street lights

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A car crash into a pole Saturday morning left thousands of people in Toledo without power and several traffic and street lights, according to Toledo police.

Officials confirmed to 13 Action News that the power outage was due to a single vehicle collision with a pole on Mulberry Street. The vehicle that crashed shortly before 4 a.m. was being driven by a single occupant. Officers said they did not know whether alcohol or drugs were a factor.

According to the Toledo Edison Outage Map, over 3,000 residents in the area are without power. Although Edison is aware of the outage, they say the majority of customers should expect power to be restored before 10:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
