Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei is trying to secure the area for fear of an Israeli attack

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been moved to a safe location within the country where increased security measures are in place, two regional officials briefed by Tehran told Reuters.

The sources said Iran was in constant contact with Lebanon's Hezbollah and other regional proxy groups to determine the next step after Israel announced it had killed Hezbollah terror chief Hassan Nasrallah in an attack on southern Beirut on Friday.

Nasrallah was killed along with Ali Karaki, Hezbollah's southern front commander, and a number of other senior Hezbollah members in an attack on Hezbollah's military headquarters in the Lebanese capital.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi accused Israel of using several U.S. “bunker buster” bombs to attack Beirut on Friday.

“Just this morning, the Israeli regime used several 5,000-pound bunker busters gifted to it by the United States to attack residential areas in Beirut,” he told a U.N. Security Council meeting on the Middle East.

In addition, US President Joe Biden directed the Pentagon to “assess the posture of US forces in the Middle East and adjust as necessary,” according to the White House.

“He also directed his team to ensure that U.S. embassies in the region take all appropriate protective measures,” it said in a statement. The White House said Biden was briefed on the Middle East “multiple times” on Friday. An official added that Vice President Kamala Harris was also briefed.
