Milwaukee woman is accused of pointing a gun at a neighbor and firing one shot

A 31-year-old Milwaukee woman is accused of pointing a gun at a neighbor – and firing a shot in a residence where there were children. The defendant is Ebony Jordan – she is charged with the following crimes:

  • Reckless endangerment of safety in the second degree
  • Endangering safety through the use of a dangerous weapon (Showing)

According to the criminal complaint, Milwaukee police were dispatched to a residence near 16th and Fond du Lac on Tuesday evening, Sept. 24, for a report of a “subject in possession of a weapon.”

Officers spoke with one of the defendant's neighbors who indicated that Jordan “came to the neighbor's door armed with a firearm.” “Pointed the firearm at (the neighbor) multiple times,” the complaint states. The neighbor told police she tried to close the door to her apartment, but Jordan “tried to stop her from closing the door.” She eventually managed to close the door — and as she walked away from the closed door, the neighbor “quickly heard a gunshot,” the complaint says. The court document states that the neighbor's three children were in the apartment.

The complaint states that officers observed a bullet impacting the interior walls of the residence near where the argument occurred. “Near the bullet impact were numerous indentations and what appeared to be gunpowder burn marks,” the complaint states. Officers also found a spent 9mm brass casing marked “GFL 9mm Luger.”

Officers knocked on the defendant's door. There was initially no reaction. But the complaint says at some point she showed up at the door. Jordan was arrested. The complaint states that Jordan verbally consented to officers going to the apartment to retrieve the firearm that was used. They found the gun and there was “a live cartridge in the chamber of this gun. That live cartridge was labeled “GFL 9mm Luger,” the complaint states.

Online court records show Jordan made his first appearance in Milwaukee County Court on Friday, Sept. 27.
