31-year-old man arrested for shooting woman in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the area of ​​675 Wethersfield Avenue after receiving a call about shots fired at 1:46 a.m. at 675 Wethersfield Avenue.

Upon arrival, a woman was found with a gunshot wound to her lower extremity.

She was taken to hospital where the injury was deemed non-life-threatening.

The Major Crimes Unit arrived on scene to begin an investigation.

Investigators processed the evidence and identified a suspect.

The suspect, identified as Derrick Britt, 31, of Hartford, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm.

According to police, the suspect and victim knew each other.
