An Orlando man died after a tractor-trailer crash in Zellwood, cops say

ZELLWOOD, Fla. — A 41-year-old Orlando man driving a pickup truck through Zellwood died after colliding with a stopped tractor-trailer early Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 3 a.m. as the man was driving east on Jones Avenue, east of Laughlin Road, troopers said, adding that the tractor-trailer was stopped facing north on a ramp on Jones Avenue.

According to an FHP accident report, the Orlando man lost control of the pickup truck, which veered off the right side of the road when the left side of the vehicle struck the left side of the tractor-trailer.

The Orlando man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the report said. Police believe he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 70-year-old man from Apopka, was not hospitalized in the crash and remained at the scene, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
