Lee on his commitment to Illinois

Brandon Lee discussed his decision to choose Illinois with On3.

“I chose Illinois because I felt they had the resources necessary to further develop me as a basketball player, but more importantly as a student and person overall,” he told On3.

What led to his trust in the coaching staff?

“Coach Underwood, Coach Antigua and the entire staff were extremely welcoming and emphasized a number of ways they can take my game to the next level and help me achieve my dream of becoming a professional.”

In his own words, what type of player is Illinois getting with Brandon Lee?

“I would describe myself as a player who is willing to do whatever it takes to win. A three-level scorer who can guard multiple positions, someone who works extremely hard to put me and my team in a position to be successful.”

He has a message for Illini fans.

“To the Illini fans: I am extremely excited and ready to play in front of all of you and bring back great memories. I look forward to helping Illinois continue their winning tradition and one day bring an NCAA Championship to Champaign.”

Lee was named a standout earlier this summer

Brandon Lee was a standout performer at the EYBL session in Indianapolis earlier this summer:

There's something to be said about a player who just goes out and puts points on the board. In three of his four games this weekend Brandon Lee Achieve 20 or more points. Although the efficiency numbers need to be clarified a bit, he scored the ball at every level and showed both finesse and feel in midfield. Lee is a 6-foot-3 raw player. He was able to recover from the jump himself, and when the ball didn't fall, he attacked the rim and got to the free throw line. His confidence showed early, and the Patrick School/NJ guard maintained that confidence throughout the weekend.

Lee averaged 20.8 points this weekend, got to the free throw line 9.0 times and shot 91.7 percent from the line.
