LeBron James and Hennessy are teaming up for a limited-edition alcohol collaboration

CLEVELAND, Ohio – LeBron James further solidifies himself as an NBA legend and alcohol connoisseur with his latest collaboration with Hennessy.

The Akron-born Lakers star and the legendary cognac brand recently launched the marketing campaign for their unique collaboration. Hennessy has a solid partnership with the NBA and has collaborated with other pop culture figures in the past, but it's a first for James.

The collaboration between Hennessy and LeBron James includes two different releases in different packaging marked by the King's face. The alcohol brand retains its signature recipe for Hennessy VS and Hennessy VSOP, but James' image is all over the packaging of the bottles and gift boxes.

This isn't the first time James has expanded his empire into the alcohol business. He is also a major investor and the face of Lobos 1707 Tequila.

Both the NBA legend/Olympic gold medalist and Hennessy had a lot of fun marketing their collaboration. In a video on Instagram, LeBron is shown flipping through a book called “The First Page” about the monumental moment.

“A man from Akron became king. A cognac became part of the culture. “Two giants come together to create a new brand,” the book says.

The collaboration leans heavily on the King James concept, with marketing including painted portraits of James in the style of a king. In an Instagram video, James drives past a barn decorated with the portrait and the words “The last time we worked with a king was in 1817.”

Of course, James couldn't help but pay homage to his love for basketball. Another Instagram video shows a first-person perspective of James removing dust from an aging Hennessy barrel to throw it in the air and clap, one of his signature moves.

In a recent Instagram video, he somehow spins his own Hennessy collaboration bottle on his finger like it's a basketball. It's safe to say that people should leave this step to James and not try it at home.

To coincide with the release, James released his own version of a Hennessy Margarita to accompany the collection. In his recipe, he mixes the cognac with lime juice, orange liqueur, orange juice and agave syrup for a distinctive aroma.

The Hennessy x LeBron James limited edition will be available starting September 30th. According to OHLQ, Hennessy VS typically sells for $40, while Hennessy VSOP sells for $60.
