Dispute outside Eugene bar leads to arrest of Springfield man

A dispute over a gun outside a Eugene bar early Saturday morning led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Springfield man, according to the Eugene Police Department (EPD).

According to EPD, at approximately 2:06 a.m. on Sept. 28, law enforcement officers were stopped outside the Horsehead Bar at 99 West Broadway regarding a fight, possibly involving a firearm.

As officers approached the incident, they observed three men fighting over an object.

According to police, 26-year-old Desmond Allan Delille of Springfield dropped a handgun on the ground as he fled from officers at the scene.

According to EPD, officers pursued Delille and eventually located him before taking him into custody. The other two men involved in the altercation fled the scene after picking up the firearm that was left behind. According to EPD, police searched the area for the men but were unable to find them.

Delille was being held in the Lane County Jail on the following charges:

  • Felon: Possession of a firearm
  • Disorderly behavior
  • Resisting arrest
  • Escape in the third degree
