The Sacramento State Hornets and Northern Arizona Lumberjacks meet in Arizona on Saturday at 1 p.m.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento State Hornets will take on the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in Arizona at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Both teams are looking for their first win at the start of the Big Sky Conference. Sac State lost two games to FBS schools San Jose State and Fresno State, but played well enough to rank high in the polls.

The Hornets are ranked No. 10 in both the Stats Peform Top 25 poll and the AFCA FCS Coaches poll, with Northern Arizona unranked.

Both teams enter their first conference game at 2-2, but expect to finish 1-0.

Sac State is led by cornerback Elias Mullican, who had a strong game against Texas A&M-Commerce, where he received his first career pick on a fourth down play in the first quarter.

Mullican was also named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.

Northern Arizona quarterback Ty Pennington, who had a solid game last weekend against the Incarnate Word Cardinals, completed 20 of 35 for 247 yards.

Hornets quarterback Carson Conklin, a redshirt freshman, threw a 16-yard touchdown pass and completed 13 of 22 for 154 yards.
