Over 3 kg of contraband seized by police in drug raid in Tamil Nadu – Tamil Nadu News

A total of 281 places across Tamil Nadu, including Trichy, Coimbatore and Madurai, were searched by police on Saturday in connection with the special operation against drugs and anti-social activities near students' residences and college hostels.

A total of 3 kg of contraband was seized by police and 17 cases were registered in the raids, which involved 1,367 people.

These raids were part of the campaign conducted by Tambaram city and Coimbatore district since August against the use of contraband and anti-social elements near hostels, colleges and student hostels.

The police have urged the public to provide information to the police via WhatsApp number 9498110581 or email address [email protected] regarding the consumption of drugs and other contraband and assist the police in taking strict action.

Tambaram Police conducted raids on around 500 students' homes near SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai in August.

They had arrested 19 students and seized 0.5 kg of ganja, six ganja chocolates, 20 ml of ganja oil, five bhang packets, one smoking pot, seven hookah machines and six kg of hookah powder.
