4-year-old seriously injured, driver injured in solo accident on I-55

PERRY COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) – A St. Mary man was injured and a teenager was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident in Perry County, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report, the accident occurred on Saturday, September 28 at 3 p.m. The driver was at the 123 mile mark on southbound Interstate 55.

The accident occurred when the vehicle, a 2015 Dodge Ram 5500, caught fire and left the left side of the road. It then crashed into the cable's center barrier.

The driver of the Dodge, 50-year-old Glen E. Morgan, was self-transported to SSM Health St. Louis University.

A four-year-old teenager was also seriously injured in the accident. The teen was transported by Air EVAC to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis.

According to the MSHP, both Morgan and the juvenile were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident.
