Suspect in South Boston shooting arrested by US Marshals in Los Angeles

BOSTON – Following a joint investigation between the Boston Police Department's Fugitive Unit and the U.S

Task Force Marshal Twaldo Baez, 18, was arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 25th.

Baez, a South Boston resident, was arrested after investigators were able to determine his whereabouts, which led to his capture on the West Coast.

He was wanted on several charges related to an earlier incident in South Boston, including two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, particularly a firearm.

The first shooting occurred in the early morning hours of May 22, when Boston police officers from District A-1 (downtown) received reports of two people who had been shot and were independently seeking treatment at a local hospital.

When officers arrived at the hospital around 12:05 p.m., they learned the victims had suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation by authorities revealed that the altercation that led to the shooting occurred on Joyce Hayes Way in South Boston.

The subsequent investigation ultimately led to the identification and arrest of Baez several months later.
