A domestic incident and robbery occurs in Ithaca

ITHACA (WBNG) – A man was arrested for using physical force to steal property in a domestic incident Saturday, according to Ithaca police.

On September 27, at approximately 5:21 p.m., Ithaca Police responded to reports of an argument between a man and a woman in the area of ​​Home Dairy Alley near the Ithaca Commons and the Arteri Building.

When officers arrived, they encountered a victim who reported that her ex-boyfriend, Hodari L. Martin, 53, violently stole from her and threw a 9-year-old who had tried to protect the victim to the ground. The throw caused the nine-year-old to hit his head on the ground.

After the argument, Martin left the scene.

At approximately 7:47 p.m., a separate report came in that a man was harassing customers at Ithaca Commons.

Officers located Martin in the area of ​​Ithaca Commons and attempted to question him about the domestic incident.

Martin got into a “physical argument” with the officers who tried to question him and was taken into custody. He was then taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to Ithaca police.

When Martin was released from the hospital, he was charged with attempted third-degree assault, third-degree menacing, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and third-degree aggravated robbery.

He was arraigned in Ithaca Municipal Court and released on his own recognizance.
