IO files chargesheet against Karsaz accident suspect in drug case – Pakistan

KARACHI: Police have filed a chargesheet in a magistrate's court against the suspect of a traffic accident in Karsaz in a drug case.

The investigating officer stated in the indictment that the suspect, Natasha Danish, drove a Toyota Land Cruiser under the influence of drugs on August 19 and killed two people and injured three others in an accident near Karsaz.

The IO, Sub-Inspector Shakir Rind, submitted the inquiry report to the court through an Assistant District Attorney and listed 13 prosecution witnesses including police officers, chemical inspectors and forensic pathologist (MLO) in the charge sheet.

The investigation report also said that blood and urine samples of the suspect were submitted to the chemical examiner's office on August 21 as the provincial government had declared August 20 as a public holiday to mark the annual Urs of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

The Chemical Examiner's Report and the Final Medical Report of the MLO/Police Surgeon have confirmed that the suspect was under the influence of Methamphetamine (Ice) at the time of the incident and hence the present case was filed under Section 11 (Tazir Detention for Drinking Alcohol). ) of the Prohibition (Enforcement of Hadd) Order, 1979, it added.

The IO further stated in the chargesheet that initially a judge had rejected the bail application of the detained suspect on September 9, while a sessions court had also rejected a similar application on September 12 in the present case.

According to the evidence collected so far, including medical reports and witness statements under Section 161 of the Code of Criminal Procedure as well as circumstantial evidence, the suspect has been found to have committed an offense under Section 11 of the Prohibition (Enforcement of Hadd) Order. The indictment ended.

Initially, the suspect was arrested and charged under various provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code for reckless driving and killing 60-year-old Imran Arif and his 22-year-old daughter Amna, as well as injuring three others in the accident.

Later, another FIR was lodged against her after medical reports confirmed that she was under the influence of methamphetamine (Ice) at the time of the incident.

On September 6, a sessions court had granted her bail in the main accident-related case after the plaintiff's counsel raised no objection to the release after the legal heirs of deceased persons “pardoned” her in the name of Almighty Allah .

However, after her bail was denied twice by the lower judiciary in a drug case, the suspect approached the Sindh High Court through her lawyer and the post-arrest bail application is scheduled to be heard by the SHC on Monday (tomorrow). become.
